Young people and the outdoors - a good combination.
All of my outdoor knowledge and experience came from Scouting. I was taken on backpacking trips, camping in the field of a nearby pub (couldn't think why this) to going on competition hikes. I also went with the Scouts to places such as Australia and Scandinavia, I went expeditioning in the Lake District, climbed Snowdon in blizzards and did my Queen Scout Expedition in the Swiss Alps. It wetted my appetite for the outdoors, for walking, for travelling. It is a good combination.
Through these page I will put in information about Scouting, Guiding and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. There will be programme ideas as well as articles taken from my scout groups (1st Roffey Scouts, Horsham) newsletters.
