Welcome to Walk and Travel, the great outdoor website for travel accessories and walking gear.

How is your New Year going for you?

For me, it has been wonderful. I have even managed to get out on several walks in Sussex - so check out the Walk and Travel News and Info pages for details of the routes. There are two routes that I have just put up and both are short enough for a morning stroll with a pub lunch. Both are interesting in their own way. The walk near Horsham takes you through the legends of St Leonards Forest and the walk around Charlwood take you through some delightful woodland and past a graveyard for Harrier Jump Jets and Lightening Fast Jets - all rather interesting! I've not written about all the walks I've been on as a couple of them have been night hikes with my Scouts - if you haven't done this before you absolutly should. It is such an amazing experience - especially up on the South Downs in the star light and moon light.

Get on your walking boots and get out and enjoy our wonderfully mild winter. (Though a little know wouldn't go amiss - even if just for the photo opportunities!)

Bungee Jumping when you are travelling around the world.

I've just seen the aweful video of an Australian tourist plunge into the icy, crocodile infested waters of the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe. Luckily she survived the 25 meter plunge - after she had already dropped the best part of 100 meters - to tell the story. The video link shows the footage of the jump and an interview with the lucky tourist.

I wonder what safety precautions are taken when people jump in countries that are still developing? Read more on Bungy Jumping in Africa...

I'm not sure what is wrong with me - but whenever I go out hiking I always used to get blisters. I am still traumised by a few of the hikes that I have done. Back when I was 14 I did the Seven Sisters Marathon. I had what I thought was a good pair of walking boots on. I had the two pairs of socks on, so why shoudl I get blisters? I remember hobbling across the finshing line after a very painful few last miles. My team mates had dropped me long ago... read my top 5 tips on preventing blisters...
